Understanding the Environment (Friday 22nd October 2021)

Biblical, scientific and practical perspectives to equip leaders

This fast-moving one day module is aimed at church leaders and key activists in particular. Dr Ruth Valerio (Tearfund) will be helping us to gain a dynamic biblical framework. Then Martin Charlesworth will be outlining the key findings of science and their practical significance for us as disciples of Jesus and for churches seeking to find a way to engage more effectively with environmental issues. This module is run by the School of Leadership in partnership with the ChristCentral environmental initiative, ‘Creation Call’ led by John Davy.

Race, Cultural Diversity and the Church (Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th March 2022)

In this unique module we will gather a range of speakers to address the biblical, cultural, practical and missional issues related to race and cultural diversity. The module is jointly sponsored by the School of Leadership and the Christ Central initiative on ‘Race and diversity’ headed up by Raj Saha. This will be an outstanding opportunity to reflect, discuss, learn and pray together is this vital area of church life and mission.

Genesis for today (Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th June 2022)
Understanding the many ways that Genesis provides key foundations for our faith

In this module Martin Charlesworth will be providing an overview of the book of Genesis before focusing in on the remarkable way that this book is a vital key to understanding many aspects of biblical theology. He will also discuss how the book of Genesis informs us about many key issues of our day such as creation, race, gender, sexuality, human identity and the environment. Another aspect of our study will be to review the unique way Genesis informs our understanding of God’s covenants. Come and be refreshed and equipped in the word!
